DAY 1: ARRIVE NEW YORK CITY

Upon arrival in New York City, your Music Contact International tour escort will meet you at the airport. Embark on a guided sightseeing tour of New Your City—local New York City guides will show your choir the highlights of Manhattan. You will see, among other New York City attractions, Times Square, the Empire State Building, and Chinatown. Perhaps participate in a sightseeing scavenger hunt where your choir will follow clues to see and learn about various New York City sites. Your tour will end at one of New York's famous restaurants where a Welcome Dinner will be arranged for your choir.

Following dinner, transfer to your hotel right outside of New York City and check in.

DAY 2: NEW YORK CITY • WORKSHOP/CONCERT

After breakfast, transfer to a local high school where your choir has been invited to participate in a Friendship Concert with that school's choir*. After the performance, there will be an opportunity to mingle with the students.

Have some time for lunch, and then transfer to Lincoln Center for a behind-the-scenes tour. A Master Class with an established chorus master can be arranged upon request (supplement applies, class with gospel themes can be organized). Following the tour/master class, perform a brief concert on the plaza outside Lincoln Center (weather permitting).

In the evening, attend a world class theater production on Broadway (supplement applies).

DAY 3: NEW YORK CITY • CONCERT

After breakfast, depart the hotel and take the ferry to Ellis Island, a 27.5-acre patch that once served as a major point of entry for millions of immigrants. At one time nearly 2,000 immigrants a day were processed on this island. Many were allowed to pass through, but some were turned away due to health reasons or lack of money. Take some time to stroll through the museum and retrace the history surrounding this national landmark. Afterward, proceed to the Statue of Liberty. Located on 12-acre Liberty Island in New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty was a gift of international friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States and is one of the most universal symbols of political freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886 and was designated a National Monument on October 15, 1924. The Statue was extensively restored in time for her spectacular centennial on July 4, 1986.

Following your visit, take the ferry to Manhattan. In the late afternoon, transfer to St Paul's Chapel to perform an afternoon concert for the public*. The chapel was the site of the volunteer ministry after the attacks of September 11. After your performance, hear a presentation about the history of the chapel and the Ground Zero ministry.

In the evening, enjoy some free time at South Street Seaport, a bustling harborfront complex of shops, restaurants, and a world-class maritime museum. Enjoy dinner on your own.

DAY 4: NEW YORK CITY

Following breakfast, meet your local guide for a Gospel Tour of Harlem. Learn, from an insider's perspective, about how Harlem started as a rural Dutch community, then transformed into a Mecca for African American writers and artists at the turn of the century. You will see sites important to the Harlem Renaissance, such as Columbia University, City College, Sugar Hill, the Cotton Club and St. Nicholas Avenue, where Duke Ellington lived. Then, join a local congregation for the Sunday worship service and experience the soul stirring power of Gospel Music! There may be an opportunity for your choir to sing some Gospel Songs from your earlier workshop for the congregation.

Following the service, enjoy a Soul Food Lunch at one of Harlem's famous soul food restaurants. Depart Harlem and head to the Rockefeller Center for a tour of NBC studios where shows such as Saturday Night Live are filmed. There will also be an opportunity to ice skate right outside of Rockefeller Center before dinner!

A Farewell Dinner is arranged for your choir in New York City.

DAY 5: NEW YORK CITY
