Visiting ensembles will be welcomed to this historic region of Italy by local musicians, city authorities, and host organization officials. Festival concerts take place in breathtaking venues throughout the cities and towns of the areas surrounding the southeast of Rome.

Sing together with local Italian choirs as well as choirs from around the world during four exciting days of choral music and cultural exchange. The Festival of Peace and Brotherhood facilitates a deeper sense of respect and understanding between cultures through the common language of music.

Upon arrival, your Music Contact International Tour Manager will greet you at the airport. Board your private motor coach and embark on a guided tour of Rome. The combination of Roman antiquities, Christian monuments, and contemporary metropolitan features make Rome a fascinating city to explore. Begin your tour in the ancient area of the city including the Circus Maximus, the location of the Roman chariot races; the Triumphal Arch of Constantine; and the massive Colosseum. Disembark the motor coach and see some of Rome’s famous piazzas and fountains, including the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, and Piazza Navona, home to the famous fountains by Bernini.

In the afternoon, travel to the Castelli Romani region just southeast of Rome and check in to your hotel. Unpack and refresh prior to the Opening Celebration of the Festival of Peace and Brotherhood with a welcome by city officials and a concert by the Italian host choir.

Following the Opening Ceremony, enjoy dinner served at the hotel restaurant.

After breakfast at the hotel, meet your local English-speaking guide and transfer to Vatican City, the world’s smallest state and the only European state still ruled by an absolute monarch, Pope Francis. Visit the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel, with its breathtaking frescoes by Michelangelo. Your guide will lead you into St. Peter’s Basilica, designed in part by Michelangelo, decorated with sculptures and mosaics by Bernini, and home to Michelangelo’s masterpiece, the Pietà.

Following the tour, enjoy free time for lunch in Vatican City. Take a moment to mail postcards from the Vatican City post office, and perhaps select a rosary or other item blessed by the Pope as a daily reminder of your time spent in this holy site.

Later this afternoon, return to the hotel for dinner and to change for your evening friendship concert with a local choir. Visit the Italian host choir and perform a concert for community members. The host choir will also sing, and there will be time for all the singers to socialize following the performance.

Return to the hotel at the end of the evening.

Following breakfast in the hotel, depart for a guided visit to some of the lovely towns in the Lazio Region, also known as Castelli Romani or the Roman Castles District. Tour some of the towns and learn about their fascinating history. This area became popular due to its proximity to the Pope’s villas and the estates of rich noble families that would follow him to the area in the summer months, a tradition which dates to the 1600s.

After free time for lunch in Tivoli, enjoy a guided tour of the renaissance Villa d’Este. Built in the 1550s, the estate is a UNESCO World Heritage Site well known for its breathtaking garden composed almost exclusively of water features. Fountains of every description dazzle the onlooker, from the grand Fountain of the Dragons and the Neptune Fountain to the Rometta, a miniature reproduction of Rome.

Later, return to your hotel to change into concert attire for this evening’s concert. Perform as part of the Festival Concert Series in one of Rome’s most breathtaking churches.

A dinner of traditional Italian specialties is arranged for the guest choirs this evening.

After breakfast, depart for a local church where your choir has been invited to sing for the morning worship service. Enjoy time to meet the members of the congregation after the service. Alternatively, choirs may apply to participate in mass at the Shrine of the Chair of St. Peter in St. Peter's Basilica (choirs must successfully apply to the Vatican Counsel; supplemental fee applies).

Following mass, enjoy time for lunch in one of the Castelli Romani towns, such as Castel Gandolfo, where the papal summer palace dominates the Piazza della Libertà, and extensive gardens are tucked out of sight.

This afternoon, your choir will sing as part of the Festival Concert Series with choirs from Italy and abroad. Share your ensemble’s choral traditions and enjoy listening to performances by the other guest choirs.

Later this evening, enjoy a festive farewell dinner and Closing Ceremony. End your festival experience with time to socialize with the other choir members.

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and continue to your next destination or depart for Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino Airport and your return flight to North America.

We can work with you to create and plan those days to match your choir’s interests. From Rome, Florence, Pompeii, and Assisi are easy day trips, and with an overnight you could visit Venice, Verona, or Milan.

Historical figures such as Dante and Michelangelo found the city to be an ideal forum for their artistic and intellectual development.     Day 1:
    Arrival in Florence from the Festival of Peace & Brotherhood via private motorcoach. Check in to your hotel in the afternoon and take some time to settle in and refresh. Gather your first impressions of Florence on a guided walking tour. See such famous sights as the Duomo, the Baptistery and Ponte Vecchio.     Following breakfast, first visit the Uffizi Gallery, which houses the world’s finest collection of Italian Renaissance paintings. Have some time for shopping and sightseeing in the afternoon before enjoying a group dinner at a local restaurant in Florence serving up some of Italy’s delectable cuisine.

  • A Extending your stay in Rome for an additional two nights is a perfect way to explore more of this beautiful ancient city. One of the centers of the Italian Renaissance, and home to a myriad of well known artists and architects over the ages, there is an abundance of art and culture to experience in Rome. Wandering the winding cobblestone streets in the Mediterranean sunshine, enjoying the Roman cuisine and exploring many of the historic monuments in the "Eternal City” would be a wonderful way to end your participation in the Festival of Peace & Brotherhood.

    Day 1:
    Arrival in Rome from the Festival of Peace & Brotherhood. Enjoy a guided tour of Ancient Rome, including entrances to the Colosseum and the Forum. A Following the tour, check in to your hotel in the afternoon and take some time to settle in and refresh. Your tour manager will take you on an orientation walk of the neighborhood and offer suggestions for dinner and evening activities.

    Day 2:
    Following breakfast, travel to Villa Borghese,where you will enjoy a guided visit to the Galleria Borghese. See some of Bernini’s most acclaimed sculptures alongside masterpieces by Caravaggio, Titian, Raphael and more.

    The remainder of the afternoon is free to explore Rome on your own. Perhaps visit the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps or the Pantheon, or explore the shops on Rome’s famous Via dei Condotti. In the evening, enjoy a group dinner at a local restaurant serving up some of Italy’s delicious traditional cuisine.

    Day 4:
    After breakfast, transfer to Murano where you will visit the famous Murano Glass factory. Then return to Venice for an afternoon left free to pursue individual interests. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner arranged for your group.
