FRIDAY, JUNE 29, 2018 | REHEARSALS AND MOZARTEUM CONCERT
Following breakfast at the hotel, meet your local guide for a walking tour of Salzburg’s Old Town. Your walk will take you to Residenzplatz, the former town residence of the Prince Archbishops and the center square of Salzburg. Visit St. Peter’s cemetery, the oldest burial ground in Salzburg and the inspiration for the dramatic escape scene in The Sound of Music. During a visit to Mozart’s Birthplace, see the house where the famous composer spent his childhood and youth. Following the tour, enjoy time for lunch on your own in one of Salzburg’s inviting restaurants or coffeehouses.
In the afternoon, festival participants gather in the Mozarteum to rehearse the shared song, “Song of Peace,” for this evening’s concert. Each ensemble will also have an opportunity to rehearse its own repertoire.
This evening, each ensemble will perform a selection of their own repertoire, and the combined voices of all of the festival choirs will perform “Song of Peace” in the Mozarteum, Salzburg's famous university for music and the dramatic arts. A dinner of local specialties will be arranged at a local restaurant to complement your performance schedule.
