Music has always played an important role in Italian culture. Not only were numerous musical instruments and terms invented in Italy, but Opera was born here under composer Claudio Monteverdi in the 17th century. Many existing classical forms today, such as the symphony, concerto and sonata, still trace their roots back to the innovations that took place during these 16th and 17th centuries in Italy. Some of the best opera singers, composers and artists in the world have called Italy home. From Luciano Pavorotti to Antonio Vivaldi to Leonardo Da Vinci to Michelangelo, Italy will mesmerize you with its talent and touch your heart with its sounds.
Day One
- Depart North America for Venice, Italy.
Day Two
- Morning arrival in Venice.
- Transfer to the hotel in Venice, Mestre.
- Afternoon spent in St. Mark’s Square and discovering the center of Venice.
- Evening Welcome Dinner.
Day Three
- Breakfast in hotel dining room.
- Morning guided city tour of Venice, including the Bridge of Sighs and Doge’s Palace.
- Free afternoon in Venice.
- Evening mass participation at St. Mark’s Basilica, the most famous church in Venice and one of the best examples of Byzantine architecture.
Day Four
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Depart Venice for Florence.
- Check in to the hotel in Montecatini Terme.
- Free afternoon in Florence.
Day Five
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided morning walking tour of Florence, including a visit to the Galleria dell’Accademiawhere you can admire Michelangelo’s, “David” among other masterpieces.
- Free afternoon in Florence.
- Perform an evening concert at the Basilica di Santa Croce, the largest Franciscan church in the world.
- Return to the hotel.
Day Six
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Depart Florence on an excursion to the Tuscan countryside.
- Visit the city of Siena and walk along the medieval streets and admire ancient palaces, the Cathedral and the famous Piazza del Campo.
- After lunch, continue your journey to San Gimignano, famous for its many towers and hilltop location.
- Return to Montecatini Terme in the late afternoon.
Day Seven
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Depart Montecatini Terme for Rome.
- Drive along the shores of Lake Trasimeno and stop en route in Assisi, a gorgeous city built at the foot of Mount Subasio.
- Have lunch after individual sightseeing and then proceed to Rome.
- Check in to the hotel in Rome and prepare for the next day’s adventures.
Day Eight
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Morning guided tour of Ancient Rome featuring the Colosseum and the Roman Forum.
- Free afternoon in Rome.
- Perform a concert at St. Peter’s Basilica, the greatest church in all of Christendom.
Day Nine
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Morning guided tour of the Vatican Museums, St. Peter’s Basilica and St. Peter’s Square.
- Perform an evening concert at St. Paul’s Within the Walls., the first non–Roman Catholic church to be built inside the walls of Rome.
- Festive Farewell Dinner

- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Depart from Rome’s Fiumicino Airport for North America.

Welcome to Italy! A seven night stay in Italy will whisk you into a world of immense beauty, culture, history and most importantly, music. Not only is music traditionally one of the cultural symbols of Italian identity, but it holds an important position in both society and politics. The music of Italy ranges across a broad spectrum, from instrumental to vocal to theatrical. Italian contribution in such areas as musical scales, harmony, notation and theater enabled the development of opera, integral to Italian musical culture, in the 16th century and much of modern European classical music, such as the concerto and symphony. One can still hear the sounds of Claudio Montiverde and Guiseppe Verdi sounding through the narrow streets.

- Morning guided city tour of Venice.
- Free afternoon in Venice.
- Mass participation at St. Mark’s Basilica, the most famous church in Venice and one of the best known examples of Byzantine architecture.
Day Four
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Depart Venice for Florence.
- Transfer to the hotel in Montecatini Terme.
- Enjoy dinner on your own.
Day Five
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided tour of Florence.
- Visit the Galleria dell’Accademia to admire,among other masterpieces, Michelangelo’s, “David.”
- Free afternoon in Florence.
- Perform a concert at the Basilica di Santa Croce, the largest Franciscan church in the world adorned by 16 chapels, many of which are decorated with frescoes by Giotto.
- Return to the hotel and enjoy dinner on your own.
Day Six
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Depart Florence for the Umbria Region, driving along the shores of Lake Trasimeno.
- En route, visit the city of Assisi.
- Afternoon in Assisi where you will visit the Basilica of St. Francis.
- Depart Assisi for Rome.
- Check in to the hotel and enjoy dinner on your own.
Day Seven
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Morning guided tour of Ancient
- Rome featuring the Colosseum and the Roman Forum.
- Free time for shopping and individual sightseeing.
- Perform an evening mass at St. Peter’s Basilica located within Vatican City. It is one of the holiest sites in the world and the greatest church in all of Christendom.
Day Eight
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Morning guided tour of the Vatican Museums, St. Peter’s Basilica and St. Peter’s Square. See such sites as the Sistine Chapel and the burial site of St. Peter.
- Perform an evening concert at St. Paul’s Within the Walls., an American Episcopal Church built in 1783. This was the first non– Roman Catholic church to be built inside the walls of Rome.
- Festive Farewell Dinner.
Day Nine
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Depart from Rome’s Fiumicino Airport for North America.
- Welcome Home!
