American Discovery

We all have a desire to be outdoors, breathe fresh air, and rejuvenate ourselves, we are thankful for the numerous opportunities to do so in America!  We have a fabulous array of destinations, world-class attractions and wonders to see here at home. From our National Parks and our Monuments to our beaches, mountains and incredible heartlands, we are fortunate to have an abundance of glorious landscapes, enticing cities and towns, and impressive musical experiences to enjoy and discover across our own country.

So, let’s start dreaming again, pursuing our passions, and planning next steps to travel the world. As your ensembles resume meeting, singing and socializing, Music Contact International will continue providing enriching tours that are flexible, meaningful, affordable, and as close to home as you need them to be.  Please consider some of our favorites:

Vermont

Our beautiful state is idyllic in summer for picnicking, biking, sailing, hiking and outdoor concerts.  In fall we have splendid foliage, apples, cider and crafts.  Winter brings sledding, hot cocoa, skating, sugar-on-snow, and festive caroling.  In spring our maple syrup runs and we all go out to play.  Singing in the Green Mountain State has been a cherished activity since the von Trapp family of The Sound of Music settled here and choirs are warmly welcomed.

Niagara Falls

A bit further west on both sides of the border is incredible Niagara Falls!  If a visit to America’s largest waterfall has been on your bucket list, this may be the ideal time go.  The falls are massive, the area stunning and your voices will rise amidst glistening cascades of water and rainbows.

Washington DC

Stroll our National Mall under the Cherry Blossoms, reflect at our countries most cherished monuments and singing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, at the base of the mighty Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, or around the pools at the World War II Monument.  Choirs are encouraged to continue the tradition of honoring our Nation’s capital with song!

The Carolinas

The beaches, lighthouses and nature reserves in North & South Carolina are lovely destinations to spend time in and the charming surrounding towns offer art fairs, galleries, and country markets where choirs may entertain and take part in local festivities.

The Smokey Mountains

Famous for hospitality, blues and soul, Tennessee locales such as Memphis and Nashville combined with excursions in the scenic Smokey Mountains offer a great American music scene with a healthy dose of outdoor activity.  Singing on the Appalachian Trail could be in your future!

The South

New Orleans is legendary for good times and Jazz but this is also an entire Mississippi Delta region to be explored. The mystical bayous, lush farms and sprawling plantations of Louisiana, Kentucky, Alabama, Missouri and Mississippi give insight into Creole traditions, po-boys and gumbo, and the blues, not to mention the tragic history of slavery in our country.

Charleston & Savannah

Two beautiful American cities a couple of hours apart with bright architecture, bountiful gardens and many churches.  Parishes here have engaged with our musical clients for many years and the combination of small lively cities, historic Civil War sites, and Southern hospitality makes every stay here memorable.

The Midwest & Great Lakes

The city of Chicago is a favorite place to go for good reason – with cruises on stunning Lake Michigan, skate parks, botanical gardens and thriving music scene, the city’s sprawl feels fresh, open, and modern. Take sailing lessons, ride a bicycle, fly a kite or swim in a Great Lake.  Sing your heart out in this region and you’ll likely have those in the audience joining in with you.

Mount Rushmore & the Badlands

The Dakotas, Rapid City, Mount Rushmore National Memorial and the Badlands showcase the unique beauty found in this glorious section of America.  Where else can you sing for four US Presidents immortalized and encounter Crazy Horse as he surveys the land of his Lakota Nation?

The Rocky Mountains

Resplendent with dunes, glaciers, forests, snow-capped peaks, lakes, rivers, and the energetic city of Denver, the Rockies are exciting all year round.  Venture in any direction and you’ve got places to ski, hike and soak in hot springs.   Stay in chalets, sing at mountain resorts and explore Wild West former frontier towns like you’ve seen in the movies.

California

In addition to popular San Francisco, Los Angeles and Hollywood, California has miles of beautiful beaches and coastal towns and amazing national parks including Joshua Tree, Redwood, and Yosemite where you can perform in magnificent settings. A day rafting on the Russian River, and relaxing in Wine Country is always divine, and panning for gold in Gold Rush territory could prove unexpectedly fruitful!

The Southwest

From astounding natural landscapes of the Grand Canyon to Arches, Monument Valley, Native American reservations and pueblos, touring here is a great delight!  Performing in Mission-style churches, on plaza bandstands and in cultural centers for communities in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, historic Tempe and Phoenix.

Canada

A short drive north is French speaking Quebec, Canada, with remarkable history, fortresses and castles.  You’ll find soaring Cathedrals in quaint Quebecoise townships and friendly, charismatic locals.  A tour to Quebec is an affordable, rewarding way to feel like you’re in Europe without leaving North America!
